Well, my worst fears came true today! All of those nightmares I have about my patient not showing were confirmed. My patient decided not to come and left me high and dry. I was really dissapponted because I was all ready to take a full series on him and everything. Good thing for family! I was able to call my husband and he left work for an hour and a half and came to help me out. I was able to complete his OD at least. It was almost a good thing my patient didn't come because I have a really bad cold! The cold had moved into my eye so my eye was watering and freaking out. At least my husband was my patient so he wasn't totally disgusted that his clinician looked like they had pink eye. I have no idea why my patient didn't come today though. I tried calling but all I got was voice mail. I hope he calls back so I can reschedule him. But I am a little nervous to reschedule him because he could no show again!!

Today I saw a patient from the recall list. She was really nice but really nervous. I was hoping that since she was off the recall list she might be a different classification than I'm used to. But alas, she was a 1B. I wasn't able to finish her all today though. The health history was a little more complicated then usuall and I wasn't even able to take x-rays on her until it was time for scale check!! I guess it was full mouth series day. So, pretty much it would have been impossible to finish her completely. So I did a really in depth OHI and I think I helped her a lot. I was a little dissappointed that I didn't get to cleaning because I was really hoping to test out my skills at the ultrasonic. I guess it will have to wait until next time!

Today was no patient day in clinic. We were learning the ultrasonic. I was excited not to have to worry about a patient showing up and stress about getting them all done. I was a little nervous to learn the ultrasonic just because it was so new to me. It turned out to be a lot of fun! Lots of water but lots of fun! I am excited to use it on my next patient. Only thing is that we have a holiday next monday so I wont see a patient until wednesday. I hope I don't forget how to use the ultrasonic. I am excited for the holiday though. No school and no patients!! Thank goodness for the presidents!!

Today was a good day! I had my aunt come in and I was able to finish all of her treatment in one appointment! I also declared her an exam so now I have both of my 1B exam patients done! I had the goal of finishing her all today because I felt stupid telling her she had to come back. I also had the goal to improve my scaling time. I scaled her in 35 minutes and only missed one spot! Funny thing about the one spot I missed though, it was totally obvious and I felt kinda stupid that I missed it but oh well. I think I am improving but I am getting nervous because the only patients I have seen are 1B's.

Today is my birthday!! Isn't it lame that I had to come to clinic on my birthday? Anyways, it was my grandpa so he wasn't too hard and he was nice. Today My goal was to complete the remaining 3 quads of his mouth in a reasonable amount of time. Yeah right! I don't know what my problem is but I just can't pick up my scaling pace. Good news though is that I didn't miss any spots. I try to blame it on the fact that maybe I took a long time because he kept dozing off and closing his mouth, but now i'm just making excuses. I was able to pass off 2 PE's today!! It is my goal from now on to pass off as many PE's as I can so I don't have to worry about them at the end of the semester.

Today I got 4 quads of a 1B completed. My patient was 1 hour late!! I was so nervous he had forgotten but he had just overslept. Luckily I only had scaling left to do on him so I didn't need the whole time anyways. Since I had an hour to myself I was able to pass off three PE's. It feels good to pass off PE's and to check them off of my list. My goal today was to finish scaling in a reasonable amount of time. It still took me an hour and I missed a few spots but all in all I didn't do too badly.
